Our Lady of Mercy Catholic Church in Potomac, Maryland, in partnership with the Pontifical Faculty of the Immaculate Conception, has created MercyU. This program is for laity who want to intellectually deepen their knowledge of the Faith through study in the Thomistic tradition.
The goal is to equip laity to engage the world with reason informed by the teachings of the Catholic Church. Classes take place at Our Lady of Mercy, last for four weeks each, and will be taught by members of the Pontifical Faculty. The first class taught by Very Rev. John A. Langlois, O.P., President of the Pontifical Faculty and Assistant Professor of Church History, was filled to capacity.
The next class, “Seeking Happiness: A Catholic Vision of Morality,” will begin on Saturday, March 18, and will be taught by Rev. Thomas Petri, O.P., Vice President and Academic Dean, and Assistant Professor of Moral Theology and Pastoral Studies.
