Systematic Theology
M.A., St. John's University, Collegeville, Minnesota
Ph.D., The Catholic University of America

Dr. LaNave has been associated with the DHS since 1996, when he was hired as managing editor of The Thomist, the quarterly journal of philosophy and theology published by the Dominican Fathers. A graduate of the Great Books Program at St. John’s College (1987), he received a Ph.D. in Systematic Theology from Catholic University in May 2002, with a dissertation on theology and holiness in St. Bonaventure. He has presented papers on the same topic to the Catholic Theological Society of America and the International Congress of Medieval Studies. He has been a staff member of the Committee on Doctrine of the National Conference of Catholic Bishops, and associate editor of the revision of the New Catholic Encyclopedia, a mammoth project that resulted in two publications: a special Jubilee Volume (2000), dealing with the Church during the pontificate of Pope John Paul II, and, in 2002, a fifteen-volume revised edition of the entire NCE. Dr. LaNave’s current research interests are the relationship between Bonaventurian and Thomistic conceptions of theology, and the necessary connection between theology and holiness.
