Carole Burnett completed the Ph.D. in Early Christian Studies (Greek and Latin Patristics) at the Catholic University of America in 1998. Her dissertation was a critical examination of the writings of Pelagius. Her first publication was “Dysfunction at Diospolis: A Comparative Study of Augustine’s De gestis Pelagii and Jerome’s Dialogus adversus Pelagianos,” Augustinian Studies 34:2 (2003): 153-73. Since then her interests have become diversified, and she has written an article on the discovery in 415 of the relics of St. Stephen (Studia Patristica 43, 2006), a chapter on pre-modern exegesis for a textbook on the history of Biblical interpretation (An Ecumenical Introduction to the Bible, ed. Michael Gorman, 2005), and a chapter about ancient Christian perspectives on motherhood for the book Children in Late Ancient Christianity (ed. Cornelia Horn and Robert Phenix, 2009). Currently she is editing and contributing a chapter to a forthcoming book entitled Zionism through Christian Lenses. She serves as the Editor of the Fathers of the Church series, published by the Catholic University of America Press. A married layperson, she and her husband have three adult sons.
