Fr. J. Brian Bransfield Moral and Spiritual Theology B.A. (Phil.), M.Div., M.A., St. Charles Borremeo Seminary S.T.L., S.T.D., Pontifical John Paul II Institute for Studies on Marriage and Family, Washington, D.C.
Reverend J. Brian Bransfield is a priest of the Archdiocese of Philadelphia, ordained in 1994.
Fr. Bransfield has served in parish ministry, and as a high-school faculty member teaching freshman and senior theology.
Fr. Bransfield holds a doctorate in moral theology from the Pontifical John Paul II Institute for Studies on Marriage and Family. Prior to his service at the USCCB, Fr Bransfield served as a Professor of Moral Theology on the faculty of Saint Charles Borromeo Seminary in Philadelphia.
Fr. Bransfield serves as the Associate General Secretary of the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops in Washington, D.C. He has served as the Assistant General Secretary, as the Executive Director of the Secretariat of Evangelization and Catechesis at the Conference, and as lead staff to the Ad Hoc Committee for the Defense of Marriage.
Fr. Bransfield has served as lead staff to the Priority Task Force on Faith Formation and Sacramental Practice and as lead staff to the Priority Task Force on the Life and Dignity of the Human Person. Fr. Bransfield has also served as a strategic facilitator to the Office of General Counsel, the Office for Pro-Life Activities as the USCCB, and has represented the USCCB to the Partnership for Adolescent Catechesis.
Fr. Bransfield is adjunct professor of moral theology on the Pontifical Theological Faculty of the Immaculate Conception at the Dominican House of Studies in Washington, D.C.
His articles have appeared in America Magazine, Our Sunday Visitor Newsweekly and Catechetical Leader, a publication of the National Conference of Catechetical Leadership. He has addressed presbyterates in several Dioceses and in State-wide gatherings of the priests.
He is the author of The Human Person: According to John Paul II (June 2010) and Living the Beatitudes: A Journey to Life in Christ (October 2011) both published by Pauline Books and Media.
